Our great little getaway

We just got back from a nice getaway. Steve had signed us up to go on a marriage retreat. At first I really didn't know what it was going to be like, but it turned out great and I would for sure go on one again if its offered to us. This time it was at the Hilton Oceanfront resort on Hilton Head Island right on the beach in South Carolina. We didn't have to pay for the room, childcare or the meals (except for date night). Below is some pictures of out room, it was very nice.

After getting there on Friday, we got all checked in and had a little introduction type icebreaker to get to know others that were there and we had dinner. Then the time was ours the rest of the evening, so we walked around outside on all the paths and courtyards. This fire pit we could see from our room window.

Then we took a walk down to the beach. It was night, so you couldn't see much, but it was nice with no lights out there you could see soooo many stars and listen to the ocean.

Saturday morning we woke up and all went to the breakfast they were serving, then dropped the girls off with the childcare people. Since none of the girls have ever been in daycare or even been watched by anyone other than family, we weren't real sure how that was going to work out, but they all did awesome and didn't want to leave when it was time to go! Even Hannah was playing with kids other then her sisters and talking away to the childcare providers.

So, with them in childcare and us with a few minutes before things got started, we took a walk on the beach, just the two of us. It was very nice.
While we were on the beach we found this shell, usually we just see a bunch of the clam type shells or broken pieces, but this one was a good 6 inches and in pretty good shape.
so, we got a little souvenir from our trip.
Then it was time for the workshops. Like I said before wasn't sure how these were going to be, but they were not bad at all. They talked about stress, communication, relaxation and several other topics. They were pretty interesting. In between there was lunch provided. Then that night was Date Night! Again free childcare was provided for 4hrs. So, we went out to our favorite place for steak, Outback, then we walked around a bit outside, and then went for a few drinks.

Sunday was the last day. We got up early so the girls could see the beach during the day and they could look for a few shells.

After the beach we went to the breakfast and had one more workshop and then they played the newly wed game. They had two couples that hadn't been married very long and then the third couple was married the longest out of our group. We were that last couple being married 12 years! So, we played, it was pretty fun and we didn't do too bad. We got second place.

And that was our trip, we had a lot of fun, the girls had a blast in childcare, they made all kinds of crafts, watched a movie, learned about ocean creatures, played games, and learned some new dances. I have to say it turned out to be a great experience and much better then I thought it would be.
